Hello from our furnitureworkshop in Somerset! We hope that you are keeping safe and well under the current C19 restrictions, whatever they may be in your area.
Here in the Southwest we are feeling refreshed after our Christmas break, we took a few weeks of family time and as many of you will know we hardly ever do this, so it felt great!
We have also taken a month off from our newsletter and this is our first update since November 2020.
10% discount off our Etsy shop prices. this offer is available for all direct sales (not delivery costs) via PayPal or BACS, contact us for more information.
Rachel has been spending a lot of time in the workshop recently, helping us to catch up with our waiting list and taking lots of photos of our making process.
This month you can see our large double door bathroom cabinet at two stages of construction, from putting together the main carcass to the dovetail doors being fitted.
See ourInstagram pages for more behind the scenes workshop pictures.
5 star Reviews Our reviews on Google are really helping our little business to stand out on the web and we want to say a huge thanks to all who have taken the time to leave us a comment or two.
Pauline and Tom gave us 5 stars and left a review of the slim kitchen island which we recently made for them.
“ A customised size kitchen island, of the highest quality and workmanship and just looks fabulous in our kitchen “

New designs on our social media pages
We have adapted some of our classic designs for a new twist on our well loved pieces.
Our chunky kitchen wall cabinet has been fitted with a wire mesh panel in place of the glass for a rustic farmhouse look and our single wall shelves have been give an extra 2 cm of thickness to really bring out the character of the natural wood.
We have made several substantial sink stands in our signature dovetail style, but this is the first in our rich dark Danish Oil finish and we think that our customers choice of antique style metal handles and wrought iron towel rail suit this bespoke piece very well.
See our Facebook page for more of on our latest designs.
Emporium Shop News
The Ilminster Emporium has been closed again along with the other ‘non essential’ shops in our little town, but we traders have rallied to set up another successful Click & Collect service.
We did very well in December and we want to thank everyone who supported their local shops where possible in the run up to Christmas.
We will be updating our window displays and Instagram page to showcase a variety of local handmade art, gifts and homeware.
Our award winning wildlife photographer Robin Morrison took this night-time photo of the iconic building which houses the Emporium.
Your photographs from January 2021
Our wonderful customers have been sending us more brilliant photos of items in their new homes for use to use on our social media pages.
This month we are going back a few years to revisit two glass fronted cabinets onboard a galley kitchen, we see our classic portrait mirror with shelf set above a modern bathroom sink and a large double dovetail mirror door cabinet made to match our new design sink stand, which can both be seen in a spacious white tiled bathroom and we think they all look great!
Family time in Somerset It may be chilly and damp during these winter months but our Jack Russell Marv has found a new spot to keep cosy, up on the back of the sofa wrapped in Rachel’s favourite sage herringbone National Trust blanket.
Not sure how he found this spot but he’s quite happy there, keeping out of the way during the sometimes fraught home schooling hours.
Like everyone in the UK we have not been able to travel very much recently but we have been delivering a few items locally and just before Christmas we stopped off to visit Brean beach for a wintry walk, the sea mist was very atmospheric and it was a quiet and beautiful afternoon.
Last weekend we had a few snow flurries in Somerset and we were lucky enough to be at National Trust Montacute House for a walk through the grounds while the snow as on the ground, it wasn’t very deep but our son Arthur and Mav had fun making footprints and even building a very small snowman.
We will be back with another update next month and if you have any questions or if there is anything which we can create for your home, just ask.
