Ideas and Inspiration
Bespoke wooden furniture options are always available, everything is designed by Marc Wood and handmade by Marc and the team in our rural Somerset workshop.
We are always happy to create beautiful and enduring bespoke wooden furniture for your home or business and to collaborate with your architectural and interior design projects.
We use sustainable, natural Forest Stewardship Council certified Redwood for most of our pieces and we can source hardwoods including Oak and Ash from our local timber suppliers such as the renowned Yandle and Sons.
All of our handmade wooden furniture, mirrors and picture frames are fully assembled, with lead times from 2 weeks for our smaller pieces and up to 4 – 6 weeks for larger projects.
We are can tweak any of our designs to fit your space or design something specific to meet your needs. Below is a list of the essential information which we will need to design and price your made to measure wooden furniture, and the answers to our most frequently asked questions.
Process and Delivery
Once we have agreed the design and price for your bespoke wooden furniture we will email an invoice for your approval, along with payment details.
Upon payment your bespoke wooden furniture order is added to our waiting list.
Delivery is via DHL or Parcel Force 24 – 48 hour courier for pieces under 120 cm or so, for larger pieces we can arrange door to door delivery via our excellent, recommended furniture courier. Their price is dependent on your distance from us in Somerset at TA13 5LR.
We are located just off the A303 and collection from our rural workshop or our shop space at the Ilminster Emporium on Silver Street at TA19 0DH can also be arranged.
Bathroom and Kitchen Cabinets
Please send us the following information to allow us to cost up your bespoke wooden cabinet:
Overall dimensions: height x width x depth in cm or mm.
Shelf heights and depth (the door and back panel will take 4.5 cm from the overall depth)
Door type; double or single; wood, mirror or glazed.
Handle type; our own ‘hidden’ integrated design; round wooden, inset groove or an alternative.

Mirrors
Please send us the following information to allow us to cost up your bespoke wooden frame mirror:
With or without a shelf and hooks
Hooks: small iron ‘leaf head’, chunky double iron, wooden coat hanger style.
Shelf: 8 cm (12 cm from wall) or 12 cm (16 from wall)
To hang portrait or landscape.
Frame width: 7 cm, 10 cm or 12 cm.
Frame style: our signature dovetail, curved, dowel or finger joint.
Danish Oil finish light, dark or mid.

Picture frames
We can make our wooden picture frames to house any size image and we have also made very large picture frames without glass, for artworks displayed in commercial and public galleries.
Please send us the following information to allow us to cost up your bespoke wooden picture frame.
Image dimensions: height x width in inches, cm or mm.
To hang portrait or landscape.
Frame width is usually 5 cm for 5 x 7 inch images and below, 7 m for 8 x 10 inches and above, alternatively we can make a chunky 10 or 12 m frame width.
Frame style is usually butt and dowel, alternatively we can make a finger or dovetail joint frame.
Danish Oil finish light, dark or mid.

Bookcases and Shelving
Although we specialise in a natural wooden rustic finish, we can offer a hand painted brush finish as seen on some of the custom crafted large bookcases below.
The tall bookshelf (painted in white) has moveable shelves for added convenience and storage flexibility, examples of our custom made bookcases and shelving can be seen on our Customer Photos page.
The hallway shelves with a cubby bench seat and cast iron hooks feature a blend of hand painted and natural wood stained with Danish Oil.

Wooden Tables
We can make live edge table and large farmhouse dining table styles, in locally sourced natural Oak or Ash and we can use straight or x style cross table legs in natural wood or metal.
This rustic wany edge coffee table with industrial metal legs is crafted from solid Oak and the chunky farmhouse dining table has been fashioned from natural Ash timbers.
